ADT Alarms - they are jokers, what is the alternative?

Oct 17, 2017  Resetting An Access Code. Free download gta 5 police mod. If you have given someone access to your home alarm system and you want to change the user’s access code, you can reset the access codes. It is important to understand that this is just for user access codes, not for your master reset code. When you are looking to change a user access code, enter your master code, followed by the number 5. Codes and installer codes. If you just bought or defaulted your PowerSeries panel, the codes will be at these defaults. If you are taking a system over, there is a high probability that the codes will be changed. But it is al.

We currently have a monitored ADT Alarm, we believed that we signed up for a two year contract as this is what the sales person stated. It turns out is was actually 3 years and we are in our third year.
Each year the cost has gone up, starting at £28 a month, now it is £35 a month.
We recently asked them to update 4 sensors to pet sensors, for which they have quoted £2700..
From this I can only assume we must have upset them and they no longer want us as customers!
I guess our only option is to pay to get out of the contract, but what are the options for alternative alarm systems? I am not that bothered about retaining the monitored aspect.
When we originally moved in we had no choice but to accept a contract so that we had a working alarm before leaving the house for months to go to Australia. They suggested they would disable the alarm and no one else would be able to touch it to reactivate it, is that true?

Talk to a local installer.
Alarms do have an engineer code to allow changes and updates. Your local installer may be able to reset it.

Only need to Google search ADT reviews to realize they are the worst alarm company out there.
Rip it out and get a wireless visonic system. Get a local firm to isntall it and never get mugged off again.
If your nearish to Kent then I can help get it fitted for good price.

Go to a local independent alarm company. They may have used rebranded equipment which isn't unique to ADT, the alarm company will be able to reset and reprogram the system.
I work for an alarm company, though not in the domestic and small commercial user dept but for monitoring we charge less than £300 a year, ADT are ripping you off. They were more than likely the cheapest to provide and install the system?
You can buy a reputable wireless kit for less than £300 and install yourself, it's not that difficult.

We're with ADT, paying IRO £30pcm I think. We signed up to a 3 year contract mainly because Mrs C wanted peace of mind. Fully agree that it's quite expensive and the sensors can be temeramental to say the least.
My intention is to upgrade to some kind of Wi-Fi/internet linked sensors. I think Samsung do some.

Yes indeed.
Google also proves that Tesco are the worst supermarket, Ford make the worst cars & amazon are the worst online bookseller..

I wouldn't touch ADT with a barge pole.

I am starting a new build and spoke with a local installer who has a very good reputation. His view was to stay away from wireless systems and go with a Veritas system, it is relatively cheap but extremely robust and reliable. For good measure he suggested a camera at the gate and sensors outside, strategically placed to detect movement. All in he figured it would cost around £3k on a 4000sqft house, no on going costs.

I put one of these in myself recently - very happy with it.
Also phones us if there's an issue, and supports remote control over the internet/via phone.

Surprised they are charging that much for four detectors. When I worked for them it was 75 pound a detector then plus call out charge.
What alarm panel is it? If it is a honeywell galaxy panel especially a g2 or dimension they are quite easily reset to default. If a honeywell domonialI would go with the above and take it out for a later visonic powermaster 30.

Have the system taken over by another NSI company, they can change the central station you are monitored by, should be able to utilise the existing panel, detectors could probably be adapted to be better for pets by blocking part of the sensor so cheap to do.
How far are you into the 3rd year a good chance they won't pursue you for the outstanding contract it's just not worth the effort.

That's silly money assuming one camera. He should be fitting a hybrid if not full radio but has quoted for fully wired.
I will say though get a GJD external lighting system with led floods it's very off putting to crims

As others have said, your local accredited installer is the best bet. Have a great relationship with our local company, and whenever there's a problem I can ring them at any time and get a quick response.
A colleague of mine moved into a house that had an existing ADT alarm fitted; ADT wanted a new contract in place before they'd give him a code for the alarm. He asked them just to remove the alarm instead, for which they quoted in the thousands.
In the end he just got a local installer in, who removed the old alarm and put a new one in for a fraction of ADT's removal cost.

Just to confirm what a joke they are...
The battery on the wireless keypad is low so it's making an irritating beeping sound.
Apparently I can't replace it myself and it needs an engineer call-out
Apparently the call-out is 'chargeable.
Given that it was supposed to have been serviced in July and i would expect batteries to last more than 4 months I suggested that either the batteries were faulty or their service engineer was faulty.Either way i wasn't keen on paying £50 to have a pair of batteries to be changed

I had one of their condescending prick salesman doing house-to-house cold call sales knock at mine. I pointed out I was happy with the YALE alarm I have, and he actually sneered.
I'm so glad I have my marbles about me, and don't succumb to pressure. There's so many of these piss-take companies out there to rip off the unsuspecting and frail.

Hi , I have a Honeywell galaxy dimension alarm and the company that fitted it have gone out of business, do you have any idea how to get the engineer code or reset it please, it’s on auto set and I need to be able to change the times on it and will need to move one of the sensors soon

Get any ADT engineer to maintain your alarm
Mine came round and deactivated five sensors when we were decorating. Then came back to activate. £40 total cost

Wow. I'd just upgrade my contents cover. If stuff gets nicked you get new free stuff.
And then go to Mexico for a couple of weeks with the difference.

And then go to Mexico for a couple of weeks with the difference. Depending on the sensor for domestic use, application and sensor type (wired/wireless), they will be buying their sensors in from anything around £8.00 - £30.00...£2700 to fit 4 is a bargain

I had the misfortune to work for them for 3 months and left due to their crappy tactics.
Local installer is the way to go, I wouldn't touch ADT with someone else's barge pole.
